Customer Reviews
While the design of the Standing Liberty quarter was well received, by late 1924 it had become evident that the date (on the pedestal below Liberty) was wearing off too easily. Beginning with the 1925 quarters, the date is recessed, and protected, below the surface of the pedestal. The "recessed date" coins of 1925 through the end of the series in 1930 are often referred to as Type 3. In 1925, the first year of these modified Standing Liberty quarters, the coins were struck only at the Philadelphia Mint.
