Available through a special purchase, these $1,000 Confederate Bonds depicting Jefferson Davis are among the most sought-after Civil War collectibles! Davis, who served as U.S. Secretary of War and U.S. Senator before the Civil War, was elected president of the Confederate States of America in 1861. These scarce and historic bonds also feature a vignette of Richmond, Virginia – capital of the Confederacy for most of the war.

When the Civil War put great financial stress and strain on both sides, the South sought assistance from its citizens with bonds inscribed "Confederate States of America Loan" (whose sales ebbed and flowed with the South's military fortunes). These $1,000 bonds bear the issue date of February 20, 1863, and have from 4-8 attached coupons – which were once redeemable for interest at regular intervals. Though the bonds became worthless when the Confederacy collapsed in 1865, these "Jefferson Davis" $1,000 bonds are now in great demand among collectors and history buffs as we mark the 150th anniversary of the Civil War.

We don't know when or if we can offer these precious $1,000 issues again, so don't miss this special opportunity. When framed, these bonds measuring about 10" x 14 3/4" make fascinating, historic wall displays!
