This 1/4 Ghirsh was one of the first coins struck by Saudi Arabia's first king, King Ibn Saud. As Saud established his kingdom in 1924, these emergency-issue bronze coins were struck at the Hejaz Mint in occupied Mecca, the holy city of Islam.

Many coins were struck over Hejaz's earlier coins

Some have a light silver wash
