1809 Classic Head Half Cent, 9 Over Inverted 9

The Classic Head half cent was struck in pure copper from 1809-1836. Because of differences in the date on first-year-of-issue 1809 Classic Heads, there are 3 varieties including the Normal Date, the Small 0 Inside 0, and the 9 Over Inverted 9 offered here. It is believed that the "9" was first punched "upside down" on these coins, then was repunched correctly over the error.
