Struck in 89.24% fine silver at the Philadelphia Mint, the 1821 Capped Bust half dollar is a prized memento of early America. The historic Capped Bust coins, designed by John Reich, depict Liberty wearing a cap inscribed liberty, with tresses falling to her shoulder. The reverse features an eagle perched on an olive branch and grasping three arrows. A shield is seen on its breast, and the motto liberty is found on a banner above the eagle.
