Struck in 90% silver over 150 years ago at the Philadelphia Mint, the 1856 Liberty Seated quarter is a prized memento of mid-19th century America. This coin circulated in the years leading up to the Civil War. The design features the full seated figure of Liberty, and was a major departure from the Liberty bust motifs used in earlier years of U.S. coinage. The reverse depicts an eagle perched on an olive branch, grasping three arrows.
