Here's a coin that's sure to become a prized part of your collection - the 1860-O Liberty Seated silver dollar! This 90% silver coin is from the last of just four dates in the series produced by the New Orleans Mint. Designed by Christian Gobrecht, the obverse features Liberty seated on a rock, framed by 13 stars. She holds a shield with her right hand and a pole with a liberty cap in her left. The reverse depicts an eagle perched on an olive branch and holding three arrows.

The year 1860 witnessed the first rides of the Pony Express and the election of Abraham Lincoln as the 16th U.S. president. Just over a month after his election, South Carolina became the first state to secede from the Union, setting the stage for the American Civil War. Recall these historic events with the last "O" Mint Liberty Seated silver dollar today!
