1894-S Liberty Head $20 Gold

The 1894-S Liberty Head $20 gold pieces (or double eagles) were struck over 110 years ago at the San Francisco Mint. This West Coast facility was established in 1854 following the California gold rush. Both the Mint and the city of San Francisco would play major roles in the development of the western parts of the country. The 1894-S double eagle circulated throughout the West and represented a handsome sum of money during its year of issue!
