The year 1916 saw beautiful new U.S. coinage designs including sculptor A. A. Weinman's celebrated Liberty Walking motif on the 50¢ piece. The obverse of the coin bears a full-length figure of Liberty, her right arm outstretched in bestowal of the spirit of freedom, while the reverse depicts an eagle perched upon a mountain crag. Struck in 90% fine silver at the Philadelphia Mint, the 1916 Liberty Walking half dollar is the prized first year of issue for these magnificent coins!
