Customer Reviews

Thanks to a fortunate purchase, you have the opportunity to own a stunning Franklin silver half dollar Proof issued over 65 years ago! Franklin Proofs were struck at the Philadelphia Mint from 1950-1963. In 1956, only 669,384 were minted – by comparison, most later Franklin Proof numbers exceeded 1 million per year!

There were two types of Proofs issued in 1956. These coins are the Type 2 design – struck from an improved hub, they feature much sharper details in the eagle on the reverse. Plus, the eagle’s wings feature three feathers to the left and right of the perch instead of four. Each coin has been graded by our experts in beautiful Superb Gem Proof 67 condition and certified by NGC. To date, NGC has certified just 836 1956 Type 2’s in this grade. Don’t miss out – we have just 39 pieces available, and once they’re gone we don’t know when – or if – we’ll be able to offer them again.
