As 2023 drew to a close, Great Britain’s new Definitives Collection debuted. Featuring the first official portrait of King Charles III, it marked a new era in the nation’s coins. The new reverse designs depict flora and fauna of the UK, in a nod to Charles’ commitment to conservation. This 2023 set celebrates:
- £2 – flora of the UK: a rose for England, a daffodil for Wales, a thistle for Scotland and a shamrock for Northern Ireland
- £1 – bees
- 50 pence – Atlantic salmon
- 20 pence – puffin
- 10 pence – capercaillie (grouse)
- 5 pence – oak leaf
- 2 pence – red squirrel
- 1 pence – hazel dormouse
In addition to their individual designs, the reverses all display a pattern of interlocking “C’s” – dating back to the reign of King Charles II, and marking the start of a new Carolean era. All 8 Brilliant Uncirculated coins come presented together in a display folder. An important first-year set that belongs in any collection – order today!
