Struck at the Philadelphia Mint the same year the U.S. purchased Alaska and Nebraska became the 37th state, this nickel 3¢ piece recalls a time when the nation was still growing. Three-cents bought a stamp and made up a significant portion of a workers hourly rate, which was about 10¢ back then. When you hold this early nickel in your hand, you can`t help but imagine who held it, where it has been, and the history it has seen.
